Food on #WordlessWednesday

Happy Wordless Wednesday despite everything. I hope you and yours are well. My thoughts and prayers go out to you daily.

We have heard a lot in recent weeks about empty shelves in supermarkets and even empty online food retailers. The husband and I had changed our way of living when it comes to food long before the pandemic forced many to start producing their own food. Our thinking behind this is:

- we know what's in the food we produce
- it reduces our plastic waste enormously when we cook and bake our food
- it is so so satisfying and joyful to bake and cook

Last week I found a couple of pictures from around 2014 when we were still working at the supermarket. I did enjoy the odd treat from the supermarket but wouldn't touch these now.

Besides, I was diagnosed with cancer in January and am substituting refined sugar with honey, maple syrup, raisins and d.ates.

What is your take on food? Do you love to cook?  And have you changed your eating and cooking behaviour because of the virus?

Muesli for breakfast when I still ate dairy

Our traditional birthday cake: Jamie Olivers Chocolate cake with Fruit

There is nothing that can't be solved with a nice cup of tea.

The husband now makes carrot wine which tastes a little like whiskey, but I cut out alcohol too.

Homemade cookie. Yum!

I used to love a good old danish pastry

Healthy eating with homemade bread

Haven't had a fried breakfast in ages. But that's a vegetarian sausage, just so you know ;-)

More healthy breakfast

Please stay safe, healthy and share your food photos if you feel like it.

  1. It's so much fun to see how we have changed in our eating habits.

One way I often do this is to look at the back of the recipe box, where the recipes I rarely use now sit, and compare those to the recipes at the front of the box. Very, very different.
